What are the steps in manufacturing high-power graphite electrodes?
Mixing: Mix petroleum coke or natural graphite with binders and other additives into a uniform paste.
Extrusion: The mixture is extruded into an electrode blank of a predetermined shape and size through an extruder.
Baking: The electrode blank is placed in a baking furnace and heated at a temperature of about 1000°C to remove volatiles and increase its strength.
Impregnation: The baked electrode blank is immersed in coal tar pitch and then heated again to solidify the pitch and fill the pores.
Graphitization: The impregnated electrode is heated in a graphitization furnace to about 3000°C to convert it into a graphite structure.
Processing: Cut, grind and shape the graphitized electrode to meet the specifications.
