Mechanical Processing Method: This is the most common method used by general mold production units in China. Graphite materials can be processed by turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. However, mechanical processing generates significant dust, which can adversely affect equipment and operators.
Processing Procedures for Graphite Materials
Graphite Oil Immersion: Before machining, graphite materials should be immersed in engine oil for several dozen hours. This allows the oil to penetrate the material, preventing dust from flying during machining and resulting in a smoother surface.
Painting and Line Drawing: After rough machining, a thin layer of white paint is sprayed on the surface to ensure clear and precise lines for further machining.
Mechanical Processing: The final machining is performed according to the design specifications.
