Are "carbon graphite electrodes" and "graphite electrodes" the same thing? Which type do 200mm diameter electrodes typically fall into?
Not exactly the same.
• Carbon electrodes: Typically made from calcined anthracite or pitch coke, they have a low or no graphitization, resulting in poor electrical conductivity and high-temperature resistance.
• Graphite electrodes: Made from petroleum coke or needle coke, graphitized at high temperatures (around 3000°C), they exhibit excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.
Graphite electrodes are widely used in modern electric arc furnaces. Electrodes with a diameter of 200 mm are almost always high-power (HP) or ultra-high-power (UHP) graphite electrodes, designed to meet the demands of modern high-efficiency smelting.
