Applicable categories of graphite electrodes
(1) Ordinary power graphite electrodes
Graphite electrodes with a current density lower than 17A/cm2 are allowed to be used, mainly for ordinary power electric furnaces such as steelmaking, silicon refining, and yellow phosphorus refining.
(2) Anti-oxidation coated graphite electrode
Graphite electrode with an anti-oxidation protective layer (graphite electrode antioxidant) on the surface. It forms a protective layer that is both conductive and resistant to high-temperature oxidation, reducing electrode consumption during steelmaking (19%~50%), extending the service life of the electrode (22%~60%), and reducing the power consumption of the electrode. The promotion and use of this technology can bring the following economic and social effects:
1. The unit consumption of graphite electrodes is low, and the production cost is reduced to a certain extent. For example, a steel plant, based on the consumption of about 35 graphite electrodes per week in the first-level refining furnace without any shutdown throughout the year, and the consumption of 165 refining furnaces, can save approximately 373 graphite electrodes (153 tons) per year after adopting graphite electrode anti-oxidation technology. Calculated at RMB 16,900 per ton of ultra-high power electrodes per year, it can save RMB 2.5857 million.
2. Graphite electrodes consume less electricity, saving unit steelmaking electricity consumption, saving production costs and energy!
3. Since graphite electrodes are replaced less frequently, the workload and risk factor of operators are reduced, which improves production efficiency.
4. Graphite electrodes are low-consumption and low-pollution products. In today's energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, they have very important social significance. This technology is still in the research and development stage in China, and some domestic manufacturers have also begun to produce it. It has been widely used in developed countries such as Japan. At present, there are also companies in China that specialize in importing this anti-oxidation protective coating.
(3) High-power graphite electrodes. Graphite electrodes with a current density of 18~25A/cm2 are allowed to be used, mainly for high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
(4) Ultra-high power graphite electrodes. Graphite electrodes with a current density greater than 25A/cm2 are allowed to be used. Mainly used for ultra-high power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking
