Rp Regular Power 75mm 150mm Graphite Electrode Rod: Refractory, HP, UHP Carbon Solutions
Graphite electrodes are categorized by power capacity-RP (Regular Power), HP (High Power), and UHP (Ultra-High Power)-each tailored to specific industrial needs. Among these, RP-grade electrodes in 75mm and 150mm diameters are foundational for smaller EAFs, ladle furnaces (LF), and specialty applications.
RP electrodes (resistivity: 60–80 μΩ·m) prioritize cost and versatility. Their 75mm and 150mm diameters suit compact EAFs (30–100 tons) or LF units, where lower currents (40–70 kA) suffice. Made from medium-purity petroleum coke (sulfur <0.8%), they balance conductivity with affordability, making them popular in regional steel mills or start-up operations.
Despite their "regular" classification, these electrodes deliver robust performance. The 150mm RP variant, for instance, withstands thermal shocks up to 200 cycles without failure, thanks to its dense structure (density ~1.7 g/cm³) and low porosity (<12%). In LF refining, where stable arcs are critical for alloying, RP electrodes maintain consistent current flow, ensuring uniform steel composition.
For heavier-duty needs, HP (resistivity: 50–60 μΩ·m) and UHP (resistivity: <50 μΩ·m) electrodes in larger diameters (200–300mm) take center stage. They feature tighter particle sizes (50–100 μm vs. 100–200 μm for RP) and extended graphitization (2,800–3,000°C), reducing resistivity and extending lifespan to 50–60 heats.
In applications where cost constraints outweigh ultra-high efficiency, 75mm/150mm RP electrodes remain the pragmatic choice-proving that "good enough" performance, paired with accessibility, drives industrial adoption.
